If you have decided that you want to turn your love of cooking into a professional career there are things, you need to do to prepare yourself. You may want to share your expertise with other people by becoming a teacher. Here are the steps to take to make this happen. Step 1
First, obtain a culinary degree at an accredited cooking school. The requirements for becoming a cooking school teacher may require a bachelor’s degree and sometimes a master’s degree as well. You may be able to earn some of these degrees through programs online. Step 2
Work experience will get you far in this field, so try to build at least three to five years experience within this field. This is one area where working with other chefs will broaden your knowledge. Step 3
With two television networks dedicated to cooking, "Food TV" and "The Cooking Channel," you won’t have any trouble keeping up with trends. You will constantly be able to try new ideas with shows that focus on everything from master chef cook-offs to baking and specialty desserts. Step 4
Start working on a lesson plan now. Create your curriculum as if you were going to start teaching your classes now. Step 5
Start working on your resume. Keep it updated all the time with any shows you participate in and your current work experience. Step 6
Start building up your references. You are going to need at least three solid references that have impressive credentials and expertise in cooking. Step 7
Find a cooking school that you would like to teach at. Go to the website and download an application to teach at the school. Submit your application with your resume and cover letter explaining what you would like to cook and why. Step 8
Check back to make sure that the school has received your application. Find out what the status is and when they would be making a decision.
